Privacy
ShareTap does not create accounts and does not store your files on our servers. Transfers happen on the local network or local-only hotspot you just joined.
Data we do not collect
- Names, emails, phone numbers
- File contents
- Precise location for our own use (Android may still require a location permission on older OS versions to scan Wi-Fi or Bluetooth; we do not read your map location)
- Advertising identifiers
What stays on your phone
Device display name, a random device id, transfer history, and resume offsets are stored locally so you can resume a transfer and see past sends.
Optional network call
At launch the app may fetch https://share-tap.com/version.json (version numbers and a store URL only) so we can require a critical update. If that request fails, sharing still works offline.
